On-line Tax Filing

In December 2009, the National Tax Service began offering a Paperless e-Service for taxpayers.
The entire procedure from a taxpayer’s filling out of an application to handling the request is processed electronically, with screens and electronic pen.
Because, although many official websites/homepages are now being programmed to work on Chrome and Safari, not all of them are and even when they are, it is still easier to function on them using Internet Explorer - especially the government and banking sites. Note that to use these sites you may be required to download Active X.
Foreign nationals who leave Korea before the end of the tax year can still fill out their tax returns if they have not do so prior to their departure. Failure to complete the tax report in a work year will result in a fine based on the tax amount as well as a possible denial of re-entry into the country. In most instances, taxes can be filed within five (5) years of working in Korea.
