European Community Chamber of Commerce in Korea, EUCCK, Seoul and Busan
The European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea (EUCCK) was formed by a group of individual business executives from various EU companies based in Korea with initial financial support from the European Commission in February 1986.
The purpose of the Chamber is to help in any possible way to develop trade, commercial and industrial relations between the EU and Korea. The Chamber paves the way for and fosters contacts between interested business circles of the 27 EU member states and the Korean peninsula.
The European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea, a non-profit organisation, is made up of around 800 members from the EU, local as well as overseas business community.
OBJECTIVES:
The overall objective of the Chamber is to promote the liberalisation of trade and industry in Korea in conformity with internationally accepted criteria as to what is appropriate and fair. The Chamber wishes to achieve reciprocal treatment for EU businesses in Korea and Korea businesses in the EU.
1. Provide its members with general information regarding any developments which have an influence on their operations in Korea.
2. Coordinate discussions among its members in addressing common problems and opportunities regarding their business activities in Korea.
3. Maintain contacts with high ranking Korean Government officials from key Ministries including MOCIE, MOFE, MOFAT, MOL.... in order to get a better understanding of the viewpoints of the Korean Government and to convey these to Members, to confront the respective Government officials with problems encountered by Members and to recommend changes in the regulations to the appropriate authorities, while monitoring changes in the related legislation.
4. Prepare reports for EU officials which detail the major difficulties facing EU companies in Korea.
These reports may be used by the EU Commission as input for official meetings with the Korean Government.
5. Having its seat in SEOUL, KOREA, it is also the objective of the Chamber to promote the liberalisation of trade and industry in Korea in conformity with the articles of the World Trade Organization,
Organisation ofr Economic Co-operation and Development, the framework Agreement between Korea and the European Union are a signatory.
6. Prepare reports for the EU Delegation and/or the Korean Government which detail the major difficulties encountered by European companies while conducting business in Korea.

EUCCK BUSAN OFFICE:
The EUCCK opened its Busan Office in 1998 to respond to the growing demand from EU companies doing business in this city as well as Gyongsang Province to be represented locally. As for Seoul, the overall objective of the Busan Chapter is to defend the interests of EU businesses in the Busan region and promote closer relations between the municipal authorities of Busan, the Regional authorities of Gyongsang Province and EU officials and companies from its 27 member states.
In order to achieve this general objective, the Busan Chapter has the following specific aims:
1. To provide its members with general information regarding any developments that has an influence on their operations in Busan and the neighbouring provinces.
2. Co-ordinate discussions among its members in addressing common problems and opportunities regarding their business activities in Busan and the neighbouring provinces.
3. Maintain contacts with high ranking Korean municipal and provincial officials as well as other government administrations, local business associations and other lobbying groups to confront the respective Government officials with problems encountered by Members and to recommend changes in the regulations to the appropriate authorities, while monitoring changes in the related legislation.
