Seoul Int'l Women's Soccer Kicks Off 2nd Year

by Sheena Lahren, 17/03/2011

Seoul Int'l Women's Soccer...

Saturday, March 12 marked the beginning of the spring season for Seoul RMT, Seoul’s international women’s soccer team. Over 30 eager young women, ages ranging from 20 to 35, met with the RMT coaching staff at Rocky Mountain Tavern in Itaewon, the team’s main sponsor, to kick off their second year with an eventful meet-and-greet. This year, the team boasts many returning stars as well as some fresh faces from around the globe.

Following a night of celebration, the RMT women showed their intestinal fortitude and dedication to the beautiful game by rolling out of bed for a two and a half hour practice the next day.

The team enjoyed immense success last year winning numerous games and tournaments. The few losses the players experienced only seemed to spur their enthusiasm to improve. So, be sure to expect even more intense competition from these athletic women this year.

Last year, the team established a good organizational start through building relationships with Korean women’s and men’s teams. Seoul RMT also hosted, and won, the First Annual Seoul International Women’s Invitational Soccer Tournament and volunteered arranging a Holiday celebration for orphans. Now the team is past its trial stage, and has made some changes to the upcoming season. Coach Brandon Bliss will be added alongside Head Coach Phil Anglade and assistant coaches Scott Tunis, Philippe Anglade, and Alix Salomon. Sun Hong will join Manager Su Kim. The players also elected captains Mariko Bliss and Autum Callender at the Saturday meeting and a new Executive Committee. Plans for this season include more fundraisers, community service activities, socials, a tournament in Thailand and the Second Annual Seoul International Women’s Invitational Soccer Tournament.

If you are interested in playing for the team or if you are a soccer team looking for some competition please contact Coach Phil Anglade at headcoach@seoulrmtfc.com  Prospective sponsors are also encouraged to contact Coach Phil as well at 010-6695-8323.
