hello Seoul!

i am a mother of 2 girls... aged 3.5 and 1 year old respectively.. we are a malaysian family whom have lived in Malaysia, Australia and most recently Hong Kong and we will be relocating to Seoul in March 2012.

I am quite lost ( as you can imagine) and am looking for friendly moms whom have been or are in the same situation as me to share coffee, tips to survive the cold winter, what to do with 2 kids in Seoul etc etc

I heard that there are expats forum, mom/dad meet up and I would be very obliged and happy if someone can point me to the right direction.

Welcome to Seoul. I hope that korea4expats.com has been of some help to you as you prepare to come to Seoul.
You will find a number of groups you can join here: http://www.korea4expats.com/article-community-groups-clubs-seoul.html
Two that I would suggest you contact are the Moms and Kids group and SIWA (Seoul International Women's Association). Through these two groups you will likely connect with moms with children the same age as yours as well as some from Malaysia and/or who have lived in the same countries as you have.
Keep an eye on our What's Going On section for activities for children - some may be in or near where you will be living. These are another way to connect with other mothers.
As you prepare for you move, we hope that the information in our Moving to Korea as well as the other sections will be of help.

thank you for your reply! whew! Yes..  I have been utilising and busy browsing this website.. thank you!

i tried emailing the Mom and Kids group - "seoulmomsandkids@gmail.com" couple of   weeks back and there was no response. Would you by any chance know if this informal community is now defunct or is there another point of contact that I can reach them. This group would be the perfect launching pad for our assimilation to Seoul. Any information from you ( or anyone reading this post) will be excellent!

I would also try SIWA.. thanks for pointing that out for me.

I hope you have managed to make some connections with other mums. 

Seoul Moms and Kids is now managed through a facebook page (we will eventually reply to your email, but as you know what it's like we are all busy mummies and don't always get much free time).  The group is 'secret' on Facebook, this means you have to be invited to join by an exisiting group member who is your facebook friend.  We did this so that we know everyone joining is interested in the group for the right reasons - obviously not failsafe but we felt it was the best way to manage the group for now.

We have regular playgroups (0-3) and meet-ups for older kids, and the facebook page is a great place to exchange ideas and ask questions - and meet mums that live close to you.

If you are interested in joining the group and don't know anyone else that's a member, find me on facebook and I'll add you.
