Apple iTunes
« on: September 08, 2010, 07:42:22 AM »

We have just moved to Seoul and now seem to be unable to access our American based iTunes account to purchase new products.  Any thoughts on how to solve this problem.

I'm afraid I don't have any ideas -- but we recently moved here as well and have not had a problem purchasing TV shows and movies on iTunes, so I don't think it's blocked the way hulu or other sites are.

Hi, Apple has no problem with overseas purchases made on a US credit card using an iTines account created while from inside the States or outside.

That said, it's worth calling your bank and asking if they've placed a hold on your card. I know from experience when my bank became over zealous in the past year and did exactly that to me. And just this past month, for reasons still unknown, my iTunes account showed a negative balance somehow and Apple suspended my account.

First call your bank and verify funds as well as the cards ability to purchase then call an Apple rep. Once you've been disabled it can be a bit of work to be restored.

iTunes is a proprietary digital media player application, used for playing and organizing digital music and video files. The application is also an interface to manage the contents on Apple's iPod and iPhone lines, as well as the iPad.

iTunes can connect to the iTunes Store via the Internet to purchase and download music, music videos, television shows, iPod games, audiobooks, podcasts, feature length films and movie rentals (not available in all countries), and ringtones (only used for iPhone). It is also used to download applications for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad running iOS 2.0 or later.
It is amazing machine. I like it so much :X

Suzi,

We had the same problem when we moved here (not from US but from another country). The problem is that Apple detects from your computer's IP address that you're in Korea and refuses to let you shop from another store than that of the country you're in - rather frustrating when your Korean is not fluent enough to use the site. Anyhow we've managed to successfully place a couple or orders on the Korean site; you might want to get a Korean friend or colleague to help you ...

Other than that there's no solution that I know of (my husband searched !) other than getting one of those (expensive ?) accessories that gives you a different IP address than that of the country you're in - the sort of thing that expats in China use to have access to Facebook I think.
