Garbage Pickup Schedule- Seoul

Each of the 'gu' (municipality) offices in Seoul has a schedule of times when people should be putting out their garbage. Non-compliance can result in a fine of up to W300,000. To be frank, the fines are not regularly imposed and locals don't always follow the rules. That said, there can be neighbourhood pressure put on residents to not put their garbage out too early - especially since everything goes out in bags and not in receptacles that would keep animals from scavenging.

MAPO-GU:
HOURS: Summer (Apr-Oct): 7PM to Midnight / Winter (Nov-Mar): 6PM to Midnight

HOURS: As of 1 April 2011, residents of small and large apartment buildings should put their garbage out between 6PM and midnight. For those living in roadside residences, the hours are 10PM to 1AM.
