Movie Theatres, Seoul

Movie Theatres, Seoul

If you enjoy going to the fims there are cinemas all over the city screening films in English (with Korean subtitles), in other languages (with Korean subtitles). It is also possible, on occasion, to see Korean movies with English subtitles. Most animated films, especially those targetting children, are dubbed into Korean as are some English movies. You'll want to check with 02-1330 to find out if the theatre is showing films you will be able to understand.

For a list of movies currently playing, see At the Movies This Week in What's Going On.

Note: If no one speaks English at the telephone numbers given, contact 02-1330 (from your cell) or 1330 (landline) and ask them to call them for you. Websites are almost all in Korean-only.

Most people in Korea book their tickets online and so there are often no seats (or very few) left if you go directly to the theatre. Unfortunately, anyone who is not a Korean citizen may be unable to book tickets online because a Korean ID number is required by most sites.

The CGV chain does offer a 'memberships for foreigners' that requires one's name as it appears on one's passport as well as one's alien registration number. Go to the website, scroll down to the bottom of the page (ignore the pop ups), and click on "Membership for foreigners"
