Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Stand Up Paddle Boarding, (SUP), is a relatively new water-sport. Essentially, it is standing on a giant surfboard and propelling yourself with a single ended paddle.  SUP also known as 'Beach Boy Surfing,' is a water-sport that can be enjoyed by everyone and everywhere a body of water can be found. It can be both a serene and peaceful form of gentle exercise or rigorous form of cross-training that engages your entire body and mind.

Training on unbalanced surfaces is very effective for building the core muscle groups, (stomach and back) and for training muscles to fire in co-coordinated ways so that the benefits are immediately transferable to other dynamic sports and activities. As oppose to traditional resistance training where muscles are trained to work in isolated groups in a stable environment. In sport we require our bodies to provide explosive strength while we are on the move, this is the sort of benefit you get from cross-training in a more fluid environment and this where SUP excels.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding, (SUP) is said to have originated in Hawaii about 40 years ago as a way for Waikiki surfing instructors to manage the groups of tourists and novice surfers. Standing on the board gave the instructors a greater perspective of what is going on around them such as calling out incoming waves. When standing up you can also see much more clearly down through the surface of the water in comparison to a canoe or kayak. However, the history of this sport goes back much further even than Hawaii.

Lighter than a Kayak and easier to store, SUP is relatively safe and does not require expensive lessons or special conditions such as kite-boarding.  However, it is still very important to know the weather, wind and water conditions before heading out.  Whether you want to try to SUP surf or simply enjoy a calm paddle down a river or on lake, SUP it is a great way to introduce water-sports into your life and enjoy the nature around you.

Pine Ocean SUP is a small, family run SUP retail business established by Melvin Palmiano in July 2010  to introduce and cultivate the lifestyle of standup paddleboarding in South Korea.  Pine Ocean ise both a retail body and "club."  But since SUP is new to South Korea, Pine Ocean is actively introducing and teaching people how to enjoy this new activity and lifestyle.  We provide demos, lessons in addition to selling equipment.   Lessons start at W25,000 / hour.
Currently, Pine Ocean SUP's stock includes the 10'6" C4 Waterman iSUP, the C4 adjustable "Stendy" paddle, C4 leashes and C4 apparel; the 10'5" Starboard Drive SUP (Camo and Bluetouch), the Starboard Carbon Wave paddle; and the following Kialoa paddles: the carbon fiber Shaka Pu'u and Methane paddles, the SUS and the Hinalea one-piece paddles.
