Pregnant Ladies First Badge

In response to reports of pregnant women being denied seats on public transportation, the Seoul City government has created a badge that reads “Pregnant women first”.  These badges are designed to be attached to either an article of clothing or a purse.  Their intended purpose is to assist pregnant women in obtaining priority with respect to seating by making it publicly verifiable that one is, in fact, pregnant.

To obtain this badge, you simply need to either:
a) Bring your pregnancy check-up record and ARC card to any district health office (Gu BoGonSoh -구 보건서). Your pregnancy check-up record is a small booklet that you’re given by your doctor when you’re pregnancy is first confirmed & that you’re expected to bring with you to all of your subsequent check-ups. Or:
b) Bring your ARC card to an any district health office (Gu BoGonSoh -구 보건서) and they will first give you a pregnancy test to confirm that you’re pregnant.

Once proof of pregnancy has been submitted / confirmed, you’ll be given free pre-natal vitamins, educational brochures and the special badge.
