Bicycle Rental - Free, Seoul
Korea has recently introduced a series of policies at the central and local level to make the whole country more bicycle-friendly. While the policy is still very much at the visionary level, some parts of Seoul, such as Mapo, Songpa and Gangbuk, provide a public bicycle-rental system.
HongJeCheon Free Bicycle Rental Facility
Open: 9am to 5pm
* Facility is closed on national holidays and Sundays.
Free Rental: 3 Hours
* To extend hours, re-registration at the facility is needed.
How to rent: Bring an ID card (Student ID, Alien Registration Card or Passport) to rent bicycle. Your ID is returned when you turn in the bicycle.
Directions: Take the subway first to Hongik Univ. Station (Line 2, Stop 239), Exit #2 then transfer to bus no. 7612 or 7738. Get off at the Free Bicycle Rental Facility. Should be about 5 bus stops (note that drivers sometimes go by stops).

JamSil Bicycle Rental Facility
Open: 9am to 6pm
* Closed on national holidays.
Free Rental: No limit, bicycle must be returned by 5:30pm.
* Helmets available on request
How to rent: Bring an ID card (Student ID, Alien Registration Card or Passport) to rent bicycle. Your ID is returned when you turn in the bicycle.
Directions: JamSil Subway station(Line 2 & 8, Stops 216 & 814), Exit #2. Walk about 200m toward Seokchon Lake and you can find the facility on your right.
Oksu Free Bicycle Rental Facility
Open: 9am to 5pm
* Closed on national holidays.
* Closed for lunch from 12pm to 1pm.
Free Rental: 3 Hours
How to rent: Bring an ID card (Student ID, Alien Registration Card or Passport) to rent bicycle. Your ID is returned when you turn in the bicycle.
Directions: OkSu Subway Station(Line 3, Stop 335), Exit #4,
At the exit, go left toward Poonglim-I-want apt. Once you’ve walked about 100m, you should see the facility across the road.

SangGyeFree Bicycle Rental Facility
Open: 9am to 5pm
* Closed on national holidays.
Free Rental: 3 Hours
How to rent: Bring an ID card (Student ID, Alien Registration Card or Passport) to rent bicycle. Your ID is returned when you turn in the bicycle.
Directions: JamSil Subway station(Line 2 & 8, Stops 216 & 814), Exit #1. The facility is in front of the exit.
Directions: Sanggye Subway Station(Line 4, Stop 410), Exit #1. Go left, which should take you under an overpass. You should see the facility from there.

Ungbong Free Bicycle Rental Facility
Open: 8am to 7pm (March to October), 9am to 5pm(November to February)
* Closed on national holidays.
Free Rental: 2 Hours
* Extending one hour is possible through phone call.
How to rent: Bring an ID card (Student ID, Alien Registration Card or Passport) to rent bicycle. Your ID is returned when you turn in the bicycle.
Directions: Eungbong Subway Station(JungAng Line, Stop K115), Exit #1. The facility is to the right of Exit 1.

YeongCheonGu Free Bicycle Rental Facility
Open: 9am to 5pm
* Closed on national holidays.
* Closed for lunch from 12pm to 1pm.
Free Rental: 3 Hours
How to rent: Bring an ID card (Student ID, Alien Registration Card or Passport) to rent bicycle. Your ID is when you turn in the bicycle.
Directions: OMokGyo Station(Line 5, Stop 521), Exit #2. From the exit walk straight about 500m, going past Hyundai Department Store. The Bicycle rental facility is on the right, next to MokDong Youth Training Center.
