Point Cards - Movie Theatres
 

There are four major Cinemas in Korea: CGV, Lotte cinema, Cinus and Megabox and each offers a discount card of some kind.

CGV Membership Point Card
Eligibility: Alien Registration Number required for foreign nationals.
How to Apply for the Card:*
1. Register online before getting card – Visit the CGV website and register as a member. Then go to a CGV theatre for your card. You’ll need to show your Alien Registration Card. Note: The website is in Korean only, but if you read Korean or can get someone to help you, your ARC number should work.
2. Card first then registration – Go to one of the CGV theatres and request a member card. You’ll see to show your ARC. Go online to register – type in the number on your new membership card.
Note: CGV website has some information in English (and Chinese)re membership. Scroll down to the bottom of the home page and click on English.
How to Earn and Use POINTS: When you buy tickets for a CGV movie, 10% of what you’ve spent will be translated into points, which you can use for CGV purchases. The points you spend will be deducted from your total points.

Benefits:
You can use points to purchase movie tickets (weekdays only), tickets for movie previews or get a discount of 2,000 won on (L/M) Popcorn

Cinus Membership Stamp Card 
Eligibility: Everyone
How to Apply for the Card:*
Go to any Cinus outlet and fill out a registration form. If you don’t go when it’s busy, staff will usually help you fill out the form. They will issue you the card once the form is filled. This card is a STAMP card and not a POINTS one.
How to Earn STAMPS: Every time you purchase tickets, you will get stamp equal to the number of tickets you buy. (2 tickets = 2 stamps)

Benefits:
Pay by movie tickets with points instead of cash
Popcorn (S) for 1,000 won and 4 stamps
Popcorn (L) & 2 drinks for 3,500 won and 7 stamps 
Movie ticket on a weekday for 10 stamps

Lotte Cinema Membership Point Card 
Eligibility: Everyone
How to Apply for the Card: Go to a Lotte Cinema and fill out a registration form. If not too busy, staff will usually help with the form. They will then issue you your card.
How to Earn and Use POINTS: When you buy movie tickets, 10% of the total ticket price is translated into points. Buying them on a Thursday during the 1st or 3rd week of the month, earns you 20% of the total ticket price as points. When you pay for things using your points, the amount you spent spent is deducted from the total.

Benefits:
You can use points to purchase movie tickets, popcorn, tickets for movie previews etc.
Members occasionally receive give-away products.

Megabox Membership Point Card
Eligibility: Alien Registration Number required for foreign nationals.
How to Apply for the Card:*
1. Online Registration first -
Visit the Megabox website and register as a member. Then go to a Megabox Guest Desk (in a theatre) for your card. You’ll need to show your Alien Registration Card. Note: The website is in Korean only, but if you read Korean or can get someone to help you, your ARC number should work.
2. Pick up card first, then register online
Go to a Megabox Guest Desk to request a membership card. To activate the card, you must then register the card number online.
How to Earn and Use POINTS:
When you buy movie tickets, 10% of the total ticket price is translated into points.

Eligible to participate in Megabox Events
Give-away products
Popcorn discount ticket on your birthday

*For some of the cards,
you must register online to activate the card. If you’re not registered (and with the correct number) you will not be able to use any points you have accumulated.
