Buddhist Temple Stay

Buddhist Temple Stay

Two of the Korean Buddhist Orders - Jogye and Cheontae - offer temple stays for foreign visitors. Begun in 2002 for visitors to the Soccer World Cup Games, templestays provide lay people with an opportunity to share in and learn about the lives of Buddhist monks and nuns. People generally stay two days or about 24 hours in that they may arrive mid afternoon, stay overnight and depart the following mid to late afternoon.

Costs for the temple stays vary depending on the program, but are usually somewhere between W40,000 and W80,000. For more information, visit this templestay website.

To make reservations (at least one week in advance) you can write to ts2002@buddhism.or.kr or call 02-732-9926/7.

A templestay is a memorable way of learning about theKorean Buddhism as well as the unique characteristics of Korean Buddhist Temples.
