Bring Driving License to Korea

If you have a valid driving license from a recognised country* (list of accepted countries) then it is just a matter of exchanging your license for a Korean one. To do so, you will have to visit a Drivers License Office Agency bring the following documents with your:  your current driver's license, an embassy certificate (if your license was issued in the  UK, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Spain, Belgium, Poland, or Italy then you do not need this certificate), a translated and notarized copy of your license (unless it is in English), your passport and alien registration card, and three 3x4cm photos. Other documents may also be required if your license is not from your country of citizenship.
*A recognised country is one that recognises Korean driving licenses.

You will be required to get a physical exam which costs 5,000 won.  This can only be done at designated clinics. There is a fee of 6,000 won for obtaining your Korean license and you must surrender your foreign one (you can get it back when you are leaving Korea by showing your passport and airline ticket).

For more details on getting a Korean driveing license and/or on what you need to do to drive legally in Korea,  go to our information page on Getting a Driver's License in Korea.
