Bike Trail - Hongjecheon-gil to Bukhansan
DESCRIPTION: Of the roads connecting the Hangang River with downtown Seoul, one of the most beautiful is Hongjecheon-gil Road. As you ride into town, Mount Bukhansan majestically rises up on the horizon; as you continue on you’ll pass the many peaks of the mountains (such as Hyeongjebong Peak) and quaint houses tucked at the bottom of the foothills. This particular course gives you a nice balance of both mountain scenery and local life.
ROUTE: The road is not very wide, so the route may not be best for beginner riders. However, there are many places to stop and take a rest such as benches and a sports park. If you have the time and a little extra endurance, go slightly off course for a ride through one of the surrounding neighborhoods or stop for a quick cup of coffee in a quiet café. The rock wall near the Seodaemun District Office, in particular, is a great place to take a rest and enjoy the great view.
If you don’t have a bike and want to take the Hongjecheon-gil Bike Route, start by renting a bike at the Nanji Hangang Park. Ride past Haneul Park and the World Cup Park, taking in the scenery as you go. Though a picturesque ride throughout the entire year, the reed fields in the area are particularly stunning in the fall. The entire route (from the Nanji District to where the road ends at the Hongje Intersection) takes about 1.5 hours to 2 hours and is roughly 7.5km long. Starting from the World Cup Park, you can also ride along the Bulgwangcheon Stream, which is a tributary of the Hongjecheon Stream, up to Eungam Station (subway line 6, Stop 610).

Mapo Office Station (Subway line 6, Stop 620), Exit 7: 1,300m towards Hangang River.
