Bike Trail - Gangbyeonbungno Thru Seoul Forest

Bike Trail - Gangbyeonbung...

DESCRIPTION:  A ride along Gangbyeonbungno-gil Road (the road along the northern banks of the Hangang River) will introduce you to the inner parts of old Seoul. This route is particularly suited for those hoping to get a feel for the city of Seoul as it was before major developments and modernization.

ROUTE: The bicycle trail on Gangbyeonbungno-gil starts at Ttukseom Hangang Park and offers two route options: a short bike course and a longer bike course. To take the shorter ride, pass by Jamsildaegyo Bridge and Olympicdaegyo Bridge to Gwangjingyo Bridge. For a longer journey, go first in the direction of Banpogdaegyo Bridge. The road to Gwangjingyo Bridge, which used to be a ferry, is lined with willow trees, making the ride even more refreshing.

The trail towards Banpodaegyo Bridge passes by the Seoul Forest, a thick wooded retreat, complete with bicycle trails and located smack-dab in the city. There are forty or so species of trees, including oak and wild cherry trees, which provide a habitat for the local wildlife.

The Gangbyeonbungnogil route is relatively quieter than the bicycle trail along the south of the Hangang River. It takes about an hour from the Hangang Riverside Park in the Ttukseom District to Gwangjingyo Bridge, and 1 hour and 40 minutes to 2 hours to Banpodaegyo Bridge.
