My trip home by taxi cost me more than usual the other night. Did the driver cheat me?
It may be that you were driving during the night hours when there is a surcharge. A 20% late-night surcharge is added to the fare between the hours of midnight and 4 a.m. If you were travelling after midnight, that would explain why the fare was higher than your usual daytime cost.
