Why does Korean money stop at 50,000 KW?

According to the government, it was to prevent corruption and bribery. The theory is that small denominations make it more difficult to pass on large sums of untraceable cash illegally. However, the government did introduce a W50,000 note in 2009. A W100,000 note was to follow soon after but it has been delayed (or permanently cancelled) on the theory that larger bills will facilitate corruption. (The idea being that is it harder to pass cash on in small bill denominations).
