Why are there steps or arrows painted on the subway platforms and stairs.
These were done a few years ago, just the before the World Cup (soccer) Games came to Korea. Their purpose is to get people to walk in one direction. You'll note that they indicate we should walk on the left. Escalators are also usually on the left.
