Driving in Korea

I've heard about an alternate-day-driving program. What is that?

During heavy tourism periods such as the World Cup in 2002, drivers were encouraged to drive on alternate days based on whether or not their license plates ended in an odd or even number.

Seoul's current Weekly No Driving Campaign involves leaving the car home one day a week and using alternate forms of transportation. Participants register for the programme and receive a number of incentives such as free public parking, etc.
