How many intercultural marriages are there in Korea?

The number of intercultural marriages has been growing in recent years. The majority of these are between farmers and other men who cannot find a Korean spouse and so arrange to marry women from other country, mainly from Southeast Asia. Intercultural marriages accounted for over 11% of the marriages in Korea in 2007.
As of the end of 2007, Korea had registered 110,000 foreign spouses and by the end of 2008, about 130,00. According to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology statistics, as of April 2008, there were 18,769 multiracial children enrolled in Korean schools.
